Rent A Girlfriend anime is an amazing show for you if you enjoy watching comedy and slice-of-life anime. If you’re looking for more anime like Rent-A-Girlfriend, we have some anime recommendations we believe you’ll enjoy.
“Rent-a-Girlfriend,” also known as “Kanojo, Okarishimasu” is an anime that premiered in the Summer Season of 2020. It is being animated by “TMS Entertainment,” whose well-known TV programs include “Dr. Stone,” “Fruits Basket (Remake),” “Baki,” and the long-running Shounen series “Detective Conan.”
The narrative of Rent a Girlfriend centers on a college student named Kazuya who has an unexpected breakup with his lovely girlfriend Mami. He chooses to hire a rental girlfriend to ease his suffering in an effort to find solace.
Kazuya believes “Chizuru,” a goddess-like girl he leases who spends a beautiful day with him, is the one he needs to start dating. But he quickly learns that she only does this to win over the client’s heart, and he gives her a poor rating.
They eventually come to the realization that they are both students at the same institution, and Chizuru assumes a different persona. Later, Kazuya discovers that Chizuru is making every effort to achieve her goals.
Things get more challenging when Chizuru suddenly replaces Kazuya as his real lover in front of his grandma. They even live next door, which only serves to make matters worse.
In order to keep their secrets safe and live normal lives, they decide to become friends with benefits. Kazuya also develops feelings for every attractive woman who is a little candid with him.
The success of this anime was largely due to Chizuru’s goddess-like looks and the unique explanation of the “Harem” genre (more than one lady interested in the main character). The anime is more engaging since we subsequently uncovered the slice-of-life genre in both Chizuru’s and Kazuya’s lives.

Love and Lies take place in Japan where the country has put into place a sophisticated system known as “The Red Threads of Science” to promote happy marriages and offset declining birth rates in a dystopian future. At the age of 16, the government assigns young people marriage partners based on a compatibility calculation, with serious consequences awaiting those who defy the agreement.
This approach may provide Yukari Nejima, a teenager who views himself as ordinary in every regard, his greatest chance at leading a happy life. But motivated by his obsession with Misaki Takasaki, a classmate and longtime crush, Yukari breaks convention and declares his love. Misaki eventually reciprocates her affections after some initial resistance.
Unfortunately, Yukari receives his marriage notice before the two may develop their relationship further. When his less-than-excited allocated companion, Ririna Sanada, gets enthralled with his illegal affair, he is subsequently drawn into a perplexing web of love and deception.
We watch as our protagonist searches for his soul mate through thick and thin, dealing with love and falsehoods on a daily basis. The main character, like Rent-a-Girlfriend, enters a phony relationship when his first relationship fails.
2. The Quintessential Quintuplets (5-toubun no Hanayome)
The Harem and Comedy setting of The Quintessential Quintuplets is similar to those of Rent-a-girlfriend. The narrative of “Uesugi,” a smart but impoverished youngster, is followed in the series. He makes an adversary after he picks a fight in the cafeteria with a girl named “Itsuki.”
However, due to his family’s circumstances, he soon receives an offer to work as a private instructor, which he must take. The sole need is that he must instruct Itsuki, one of her five quintuplets, and her other four siblings. He must force everyone to graduate even though they are all terrible students.
The plot of this anime, which is similar to Rent a girlfriend, is that no one can predict which girl will win, allowing everyone to pick their favorite and support her to triumph in the end.
3. My First Girlfriend Is a Gal (Hajimete no Gal)
The main character of the show is Junichi Hashiba, a desperate high school boy who will do everything to have a girlfriend. Junichi Hashiba invites a girl out after his wicked buddies play a joke on him in an effort to change the fact that he is a hopeless virgin. The girl in question, Yukana Yame, finds Junichi’s groveling repulsive.
She immediately bonds with him, to his surprise, and eventually accepts Junichi’s confession after a series of jesting comments. All the females in their school began to feel for Junichi as a result of this action, which improved his reputation. You’ll like it since it is more of an ecchi anime in the vein of Kanojo, Okarishimasu (Rent a Girlfriend).
4. TONIKAWA: Over The Moon For You
The rom-com style is the same in Tonikaku Kawaii and Rent a girlfriend. A young child named “Nasa,” who is incredibly intelligent accidentally runs into a vehicle one day but is stopped by the lovely “Tsukasa.” He pursues Tsukasa despite the fact that his head is still bleeding, confessing his love at first sight. She declines his invitation to go out because she’s already engaged.
They still do get married and begin living together without considering the implications of the situation. The simplest anime to date is by far this one – the finest romantic comedy on our list. With two young people of opposing genders living together for the first time and getting to know one another, it is rather wholesome.
What distinguishes “Tsukasa” is her voice actor, the skilled and relatively new “Akari Kitou,” who also sang the anime’s opening song, “Banger.” Notable characters she has voice acted include “Nezuko from Demon Slayer” and “Kate” from Shadow House.
5. Nisekoi: False Love
Like Rent A Girlfriend, Nisekoi: False Love is one of the most well-liked romantic series and does a decent job of parodying the “Harem” subgenre. And like Rent-a-girlfriend, the main character is initially thought of by the girl as a loser until falling in love.
Ten years ago, Raku Ichijo made a vow to his young sweetheart that he would retain a lock pendant as a memento and give the key to his beloved. Despite coming from a Yakuza family, Raku Ichijo has always desired a normal existence.
Raku continues to wear the pendant that his parents gave him as a memento. One day, a girl named “Chitoge” strikes Raku, causing him to lose his priceless necklace. Chitoge is the yakuza boss’s daughter who belongs to the rival side of Raku’s parents. Raku pushes Chitoge to hunt for his necklace when she unexpectedly transfers to his school.
Both of them must put an end to the conflict because there is competition between their families as well. In order to prevent a conflict between the two gangs, Chitoge and Raku continue to pretend they are dating.
Similar to Rent A Girlfriend, the main characters in this movie also act as though they are a couple even though they don’t get along.
6. Rascal Does Not Dream Of Bunny Girl Senpai
Next up on our list of anime like Rent A Girlfriend, we have Seishun Buta Yarou wa Bunny Girl Senpai no Yume wo Minai (Rascal Does Not Dream Of Bunny Girl Senpai). Sakuta Azusagawa’s life takes an unexpected turn when he encounters adolescent starlet Mai Sakurajima who is disguised as a bunny girl and is lost in a library without anybody seeing her.
Mai finds it intriguing that Sakuta is the only one who can see her because she is invisible to everyone else, even whether she is dressed regularly or making an effort to avoid the spotlight. While continuing to become closer to Mai and meeting other females who also experience “Adolescence Syndrome,” Sakuta attempts to unravel this enigma and names this condition “Adolescence Syndrome.”
Sakuta comes into contact with more girls who have the illusive sickness as he attempts to assist Mai through her situation. Similar to Rent A Girlfriend, the main character gets to meet multiple girls and ends up in a complicated situation.
7. Golden Time
Similar to Rent A Girlfriend, Golden Time is one of the finest rom-coms even if it lacks a “Harem” or “Ecchi” aspect. The protagonist of Golden Time is “Banri,” a farm child who has suffered from amnesia and has very little memory of his relatives and native town.
Banri Tada suffers from amnesia after a horrible catastrophe, which erases his memories of his home and history. Nevertheless, he chooses to go on and start a new life in law school in Tokyo after becoming friends with Mitsuo Yanagisawa.
However, just as Banri is starting to get used to college life, the stunning Kouko Kaga unexpectedly enters his life and their accidental encounter ushers in an extraordinary year. The journey of Banri continues as he learns new things about himself while entering his first relationship.
A high school student named “Miyamura” and a high school girl named “Hori” have radically different public perceptions of who they really are. When they learn one other’s true identities, they make the decision to keep it a secret from the rest of the school.
But a fateful encounter between the two reveals their secret nature. Hori is well-liked at school but finds it difficult to mingle with her classmates because of housekeeping. But Miyamura, who has hidden tattoos and body piercings that give him the appearance of a mild miscreant, lives in plain sight of his classmates.
They become closer as a result, and they begin to fall in love. Although the fictitious relationship aspect is not followed, the main protagonists conceal their identities from others, exactly like in Rent A Girlfriend.
9. Girlfriend, Girlfriend (Kanojo mo Kanojo)
Next up on our list of anime shows like Rent A Girlfriend, we have Girlfriend, Girlfriend (Kanojo mo Kanojo). High school student “Naoya” is dating “Saki,” a classmate and her childhood buddy. When Naoya “Nagisaformer “‘s friend confesses to him one day, he rejects him because he is already seeing Saki.
However, Naoya can’t help but feel drawn to Nagisa, so with Saki’s approval, he begins dating both of them. Whatever they do to maintain their peculiar relationship ends up creating absurd and amusing scenarios as a result of this extraordinary state of things.
In the series, he dates two additional anime girlfriends, and their convoluted connection continues. This anime also includes “Rie Takahashi” as one of the heroines, and like Rent-a-Girlfriend, both shows contain a harem of four girls who are inexplicably attracted to the lead character.
10. A Couple of Cuckoos (Kakkou no Iinazuke)
A focused high school student and a well-known social media personality, Nagi Umino and Erika Amano had nothing in common until they learned that they had been switched at birth. With neither Nagi nor Erika’s awareness, their parents swiftly come up with a plan when the shocking news is shared with both of their families: the two should become engaged in order to reunite them with their proper families and guarantee everyone’s pleasure.
Naturally, they both reject this notion, but Erika’s father offers them an apartment and advises them to consider their options. As a result, they both begin a fictitious romantic connection.
Both of the major protagonists lie about their ties to their families, like in Rent A Girlfriend. The voice actresses in this anime are highly talented, including the well-known “Konomi Koharu,” who is most known for playing “Chika” in Kaguya-sama: Love is War.
Rent A girlfriend is pretty interesting. It is amusing, relatable, and charming. Even though it is meant to be humorous, adding a few realistic moments might have improved it.
