Anime waifus are increasingly becoming popular among anime lovers without any doubt. So today, I have compiled a list of the top 10 best anime waifus of 2023 so far.
Last year, Roxy Migurdia secured first place as the number one waifu of 202,1 but this year 2022 has practically an entire Pokedex full of S-tier anime waifus who all deserve a spot on this list.
Since it’s a top 10 list, many of my favorite and your favorite cute waifus might not make it on this list. A lot of great waifus will be left behind because this top 10 list is only the best of the best!
So without further ado, let’s find out who’s the best anime waifu 2022!

10. Nezuko Kamado (Demon Slayer)
Demon Slayer isn’t carried by its animation, it’s carried by Nezuko’s thighs. Even if you despise Demon Slayer for whatever reason it’s impossible to ignore the appeal of Nezuko.
She’s basically the ideal woman anybody would want to have in their life. In case you’re wondering why I only gave her the number 10 spot it’s obviously because she’s a 10 out of 10. But jokes aside, I feel like there are cuter waifus than her this year.
9. Rukia Kuchiki (Bleach)
On number 9 on the list of top 10 best anime waifus of 2022, we have Rukia on our hands. Rukia is my favorite character from Bleach, but if she was in Rent A Girlfriend, the show might have actually been a good anime.
Rukia is pretty bad at drawing but she’s great at drawing my attention. Even though the new season of bleach hasn’t started airing yet I still think Rukia deserves a spot on this list because at this point there’s nothing they could possibly do to ruin her character.
Some people might not like her as much because she’s kind of a tomboy. However, in my eyes, I think she definitely deserves a spot on this list of the best anime waifus of 2022.
8. Origami Tobiichi (Date A Live)
Tobiichi Origami didn’t get enough screen time this year in season 4 of Date A Live but she’s still one of my favorite waifus of all time. She’s always plotting something devious and she’s extremely funny and exciting to watch. Origami is definitely one of the cute anime waifus of 2022.
Origami’s personality is the best part of Date A Live and she’s responsible for most of the comedy too. Date A Live is one of my favorite harems for the following three reasons: Origami, Kuromi, and Origami.
7. Lucy (Cyberpunk: Edgerunners)
Next up on the list of the best anime waifus of 2022, we have Lucy. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners has been an instant hit among the fans and many are calling it anime of the year already.
Lucy is the best girl from Cyberpunk Edgerunners. Don’t get me wrong though, Rebecca would have been somewhere on the list as well. But this year I decided to only include one waifu per anime because there are just so many to choose from.
Rebecca is awesome but I think Lucy deserves this spot because she just seems like the perfect girlfriend. Characters like Lucy only come around once in a blue moon.
Lucy almost made it to the top five but she really needs to quit smoking I still think she’s smoking hot though. Jokes aside, Lucy’s character is very well written and is compelling enough for anybody to like her as much as I do.
I think Cyberpunk Edgerunners is definitely a contender for anime of the year 2022.
6. Kaguya Shinomiya (Kaguya-Sama: Love is War)
Continuing with the list of the best anime waifus of the year 2022, we have Kaguya Shinomiya. Kaguya-Sama herself has finally appeared and it would be a sin to rank her any lower than the top 6.
The other day someone told me that the queen passed away but I don’t know what they were talking about because Kaguya looks perfectly fine to me. Okay, I know this joke is not funny anymore but I just had to use it.
She’s the title character of literally the best romance comedy anime in the genre. Kaguya is always up to something funny and cute and there’s never a dull moment with her.
A lot of my favorite anime moments involve Kaguya especially the conclusion of season 3 this year which was one of the best anime episodes I’ve ever seen.
Watching Kaguya finally get what she wants was incredibly satisfying because Kaguya deserves happiness more than any other character except Mikoino.
5. Yor Forger (Spy x Family)
On number 5 on the list of the best anime waifus, we have Yor Forger. Spy x Family has been considered the best anime of 2022 by many anime fans mainly because of the characters like Anya and Yor Forger.
The best kind of anime waifu is one that can kill you, and the second best kind of waifu is one that can protect you. Yor Forger can do both with her feet.
Aside from being a part-time assassin, she’s actually a pretty decent parent too. Whenever you’re feeling down, Yor Forger can pick you right back up and then pump out a few sets of squats.
Yor Forger has got the strength of a Fate character, the looks of a Fate character, and the IQ of a Konosuba character. She’s literally perfection.
Speaking of the show itself, Spy x Family definitely makes it into the list of the top 10 anime of 2022.
4. Nazuna Nanakusa (Call of the Night)
On number 4 on the list of the best anime waifus of 2022, we have Nazuna Nanakusa, the famous vampire girl. Nazuna is a very well-written vampire character with a unique story.
Nazuna is a carefree character as she just lives her life however she wants to and I totally respect that even if she can’t afford furniture because she spends all her money on beer. If she’s happy then I’m happy too.
Call of the Night keeps Nazuno’s character consistent with how a vampire is supposed to act. For example, we humans might consider Nazuna’s outfit to be a bit revealing but as a vampire, Nazuna feels like she’s dressed appropriately as long as her neck is covered, thus her character design is pretty genius and she looks gorgeous.
The other waifus in this anime are beautiful too particularly Hatsuka. I don’t know what it is but there’s just something I really like about her.
3. Chisato Nishikigi (Lycoris Recoil)
Continuing with the list of the best anime waifus, we have Chisato Nishikigi from Lycoris Recoil. Chisato looks like she was born to be in everyone’s profile picture on Discord.
She’s absolutely adorable from every angle, and out of all the waifus on this list Chisato has arguably the best personality. Chisato is always optimistic and full of energy and just has an aura around her that puts everyone in a good mood.
She might look harmless on the outside but on the inside, she’s still harmless because she only uses non-lethal rubber bullets even against people that are actively trying to kill her.
Despite having an artificial heart, Chisato is still one of the most caring wholesome, and lovable characters of this entire year. I’ve been seeing more fan art of her than any other waifu from 2022 and she definitely is among the top anime waifus of 2022.
2. Marin Kitagawa (My Dress-Up Darling)
On number 2 on the list of best anime waifus of 2022 so far, we have none other than Marin Kitagawa. Marin from My Dress-Up Darling is literally the face of 2022 anime without any doubt.
She’s undeniably the most iconic, most popular, and overall one of the best anime waifus of all time. She deserves the number one spot I’ll admit that but regardless, earning number two on this list is still one of the greatest accomplishments any anime waifu can ever hope to achieve.
In case you haven’t watched My Dress-Up Darling, it’s about a stunningly beautiful waifu with a cosplay obsession who decides to start hanging out with this complete loser who’s supposed to remind us of ourselves.
It’s the exact situation that we weebs always fantasize about and Marin is the pinnacle of every otaku’s dreams and imagination.
The only reason Marin isn’t first place on the list of the best anime waifus is that I’m just really extremely biased. However, now I’m finally ready to reveal my number one waifu of 2022.
1. Kofune Ushio (Summer Time Rendering)
The best anime waifu of 2022, in my opinion, is Ushio Kofune. In general, Summer Time Rendering is one of the best anime to watch in 2022 and I think many people will agree with me.
Ushio probably has the best personality on this entire list of the best anime waifus. This girl is amusing, whether it’s the actual “Ushio” or her shadow.
She consistently makes stupid decisions without considering the repercussions, which gives “Shinpei” stress. Her clumsy nature makes her cute in general.
Ushio is a young anime waifu with light skin, an athletic frame, and a curvaceous figure. She has blue eyes and beautiful, blonde hair that falls to her waist.
She also has significantly golden eyelashes and eyebrows. Ushio likes to wear a one-piece swimsuit in dark navy blue with white shoulder straps.
Ushio expressed her love for “Shinpei” after their interesting encounter at the beach, who is undoubtedly equally in love with her!
Honorable Mentions
Here I will include some honorable mentions for the list of best anime waifus of 2022.
Renner (Overlord)
Renner probably would have been somewhere on this list as well if I was caught up with Overlord.
Echidna (I’m Quitting Heroing)
Echidna from I’m quitting Heroing was a fairly decent waifu too but her personality and shyness are probably the main reason I like her a lot.
Shikimori (Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie)
Shikimori almost had a shot at the list of top 10 best anime waifus but her boyfriend ruined the show for me. Watching her interact with him was like watching a mother taking care of an infant child with IBS.
Lena (86 or Eighty-Six)
Lena was one of the best anime waifus of 2021 for sure. Eighty-Six was supposed to finish airing last year but the final two episodes got delayed.
So even though Eighty-Six technically aired two episodes this year I don’t think it qualifies as a 2022 anime. and that is the reason why I didn’t include Lena in this list.
Roxy (Mushoku Tensei)
Eris and Roxy appeared in this year’s OVA but I don’t think an OVA is enough to qualify Mushoku Tensei as a 2022 anime. Also, it would get kind of repetitive having Roxy at the first place again.
Makima (Chainsaw Man)
Makima from Chainsaw Man is an absolutely fantastic character. Makima is better than most of the waifus on this top 10 list but the reason I excluded her is that the anime hasn’t aired yet.
I will probably modify this list after Chainsaw Man anime ends.
